Deering Calico™ 19-Fret Tenor Banjo

$4,729.00

A premium quality, world class tenor banjo that is appreciated for its crisp tone with great highs and distinctive bass response. The Calico is not only beautiful, but it is also exceptionally dynamic with both powerful sound and response; providing an excellent tool for all styles of music. At this price point we add two features, we taper the inside of the resonator walls for added projection of tone, and we also add the feature of glued-in frets. Each fret is fitted to the fingerboard and glued in place so that in the future when the frets are worn out, they can easily be replaced without chipping the fingerboard. You will gain these benefits on every model from the Calico on up the line.

The heart of the Deering Calico banjo is the Deering bronze tone-ring, precisely fitted to the three-ply maple rim. The Deering -06- tone ring produces a beautiful, balanced overtone spectrum. Its weight is ideal for most styles played on the banjo. A softer touch will provide you with as much sustain as you ever want, a sharper attack will produce a distinct pop and accurate note separation. You will notice no dead spots over the entire fingerboard. The beautiful highs and powerful well rounded bass is the result of intense study of alloys and shapes resulting in superb sound.

The Neck:
Curly maple with a Honey Stain
Natural Ebony fingerboard
19 Nickel-Silver Frets glued in for easy replacement
Mother of pearl scroll inlays

Deering Dropkick Murphys Tenor Banjo

$3,419.00

The Dropkick Murphys Banjo is a representation of the band with their shield crest of anchors, shamrocks, and leaves on the traditionally shaped banjo headstock.

Beautifully inlayed into the fingerboard in Italian Pearloid are the name of the band in Old English lettering, two classic shamrocks and a banner proudly supporting "Boston″ at its base. Only the highest quality of curly maple wood is used for the neck and resonator on this model. A special thing about the Dropkick Murphys Model is that it is one of the lightest professional banjos made. Its' tone ring is made out of grenadillo wood rather than metal. This gives it a bright warm sound and most of all makes it easy to dance with on stage!

This banjo is fitted with a Kavanjo banjo pickup system which allows the banjo to be plugged in and played at screaming volumes without any feedback while still maintaining its acoustic tone.

When Jeff DaRosa, the banjo player of the band, played the very first Dropkick Murphys Deering Banjo he said, "This thing rules!! This is the best banjo I've ever played!″ The goal of making this available to all Dropkick Murphys fans, Deering has made a twin model in the Goodtime line with the same special art work engraved proudly on the neck. Made with a violin grade maple rim, the Goodtime models are the most affordable banjos one can get while still having a professional level of sound. Deering Sierra™ 19-Fret Tenor Banjo

$2,884.00

"Well folks, it's like this,The Deering Sierra banjo, while being our least expensive completely professional banjo, is truly the flagship of our entire line! How is it that this is so? Well I'll tell you.

The pot assembly of the Sierra, the violin grade maple 3 ply rim, the -06- tone ring, the one piece zinc flange, the notched tension hoop, the Deering tail piece and armrest are exactly the same as our whole line all the way up to the Gabriella, with just a few exceptions. The only exceptions are; the Golden Era has a different zinc flange, the Hartford has a Grenadillo wood tone ring, the Terry Baucum has an -06- tone ring that is just a few ounces lighter than thestandard -06- tone ring, and the Tenbrooks banjos have the Swiss Jens Kruger tone ring.

The G.D.L. has the exact same pot assembly as the Sierra, The Ivanhoe, except for cosmetic differences such as gold plating, has the exact same pot assembly as the Sierra. The Maple Blossom, the Deluxe, the Calico, the Black Diamond all have the exact same pot assembly as the Sierra. This means that the Sierra is truly a top professional banjo. PERIOD! When I first introduced the Sierra I kept the cost down by keeping the cosmetics simple. I put the money intothe pot assembly. I wanted to build a top professional banjo at a price that I could have afforded when I was a kid going to the music store on my way home from school every day.

The Sierra has been tremendously successful. But it is no longer cosmetically simple. With the implementation ofnew technology I have been able to make the Sierra exquisitely beautiful without raising the price. I have beengreatly inspired by the art work of the old masters of the Boston banjo era from the turn of the last century. Withthis inspiration in my blood I have brought art to the Sierra that is usually reserved for banjos costing much, much more. And I have kept the cost down using state of the art technology. So now the Sierra is a truly professional master piece of both sound and art at a price that is within your reach. We sell more Sierras than any other model and that makes it our flagship banjo!"

Sincerely, Greg Deering

Deering Sierra™ Plectrum banjo

$2,884.00

Well folks, it's like this,The Deering Sierra banjo, while being our least expensive completely professional banjo, is truly the flagship of our entire line!

The only exceptions are; the Golden Era has a different zinc flange, the Hartford hasa Grenadillo wood tone ring, the Terry Baucum has an -06- tone ring that is just a few ounces lighter than thestandard -06- tone ring, and the Tenbrooks banjos have the Swiss Jens Kruger tone ring.

The G.D.L. has the exact same pot assembly as the Sierra, The Ivanhoe, except for cosmetic differences such as gold plating, has the exact same pot assembly as the Sierra.

I put the money into the pot assembly.

I have been greatly inspired by the art work of the old masters of the Boston banjo era from the turn of the last century. Withthis inspiration in my blood I have brought art to the Sierra that is usually reserved for banjos costing much, much more. And I have kept the cost down using state of the art technology. So now the Sierra is a truly professional master piece of both sound and art at a price that is within your reach. We sell more Sierras than any other model and that makes it our flagship banjo!

Goodtime™ 17-Fret Tenor Banjo

$516.00

If you want a top quality reasonably priced Irish Tenor banjo, this is a real find! Made in America at the Deering Banjo factory in California, the Goodtime open-back banjo weighs about 4 pounds so it is ideal for traveling, camping, hiking, taking to the beach and provides a vibrant singing banjo tone in any situation.

Also, light enough to easily hold and play and is the perfect banjo to start out with since it is fretted correctly and plays easily. The shorter 17 fret neck reduces the length of the entire banjo to just 32 inches end to end.

Tuned in 5ths like a Mandolin or Violin (C,G,D,A), this banjo is a great crossover instrument for Mandolin or Violin players! As one customer put it "Really great instrument with a great build quality and a lovely loud and rich tone. It is a delight to play with its short scale fretboard, slim neck and light weight body. I chose the GDAE tuning so that I can use the chords and tunes already learnt on the mandolin and am able to play it with just a little more of a stretch and a bit more movement of the old fingers! I'm well impressed and can strongly recommend one of these lovely American banjos".
