Deering’s new Golden Wreath banjo “ the hottest on the planet”
The Deering Banjo Company is introducing a new ‘classic” banjo called the “Golden Wreath” The new banjo is a reproduction of the classic banjos made in the 1930’s. It features a mahogany neck and resonator, a 20-hole tonering, an ebony fingerboard with the traditional wreath pattern inlaid in mother of pearl in both the fingerboard and the peghead. The 3-ply rock maple rim is fitted with a traditional one-piece, cast zinc flange, and the resonator has two purfling rings inlaid on the surface.
“When you make this model, you’ll be reproducing the hottest banjo on the planet!”says one Deering and vintage banjo dealer. Deering’s marketing strategy has always been, to build what the banjo market wants. The new wreath model is based on Deering’s super popular Golden Era model which is one of Deering’s top selling banjos. The ‘Wreath’ is true to the vintage banjos in tone, style, materials, and when combined with Deering’s worldclass craftsmanship, recreates one of the most sought-after banjos in the world today at a very reasonable price.
“When we’ve talked to some of the great players around the world, many of whom play our Golden Era, the most common request was, “could you build a wreath style banjo?” notes Janet Deering. “There are tone and playability aspects of the new wreath model that are super popular right now and we are delighted that our new Golden Wreath banjo is right in step with what is wanted and needed in the banjo market,” she says. With original banjos selling above $20,000 as collector’s items, the Golden Wreath is easily affordable to every banjo player and enthusiast.
