Vintage enthusiasts can
now purchase Deering’s new Vega Senator model! Created as an openback
banjo with spun brass hoop and bar tonering, a rich brown-stained, rock maple
neck and multi-ply rim, the new Senator has the time-honored Vega peghead profile.
The ebony fingerboard of the new Senator is inlayed with mother of pearl dots
and a Vega star at the fifth fret. The fiberskyn head and no-knot tailpiece
enhance the sound of this banjo characterized as a full, woody tone with a beautiful
sparkle of clarity and definition. The new Deering planetary pegs give the player
tight and precise tuning while the 2 coordinator rods in the multi-ply rim and
the truss rod in the neck provide full neck adjustability. This openback Vega
has the ease of playability that all Deering banjos are noted for and the light
weight sought after by many banjo players without sacrificing sound quality
and sustain. Retailing for only $1599, including traditional hardshell case,
the Senator is now available to customers in Deering dealerships throughout
the country.
The idea for the exciting new Senator model was a collaboration between prominent
claw-hammer banjoist Dan Levenson and Greg and Janet Deering. True to his life-long
love for Vega banjos, Greg Deering continues to introduce new models to his
expanding Vega line of banjos. Deering is dedicated to bringing forward the
best of the old Vegas and adding Deering quality and craftsmanship to offer
lovers of the vintage line, true “originals.” The new Senator model
joins other Vega models by Deering that include the Vega Long Neck, the Vega
#2, the Vega Dragon Star, the Vega Little Wonder, the Vega Bluegrass Wonder,
and the Vega Old Tyme Wonder. For details on these and other Deering banjos
