DEERING BANJO COMPANY MOVES INTO NEW FACTORY
Deering Banjo Company, the largest banjo maker in North America, moved into
their custom built, 15,0000 square foot facility in Spring Valley, CA, in late
June 2001. The new factory features a 500 square-foot showroom, office space
for sales and business staff, and 12,500 square feet of floor space for manufacturing
and shipping of the Deering, Vega, and Goodtime lines. The move was prompted
by the need to accommodate the record-breaking production levels required to
meet the strong increase in Deering sales due to the rising interest in the
banjo.
Celebrating their 26th year in banjo manufacturing and created more than 27,000 banjos to date, Janet and Greg Deering have built a company whose reputation is founded on quality instruments at a competitive price. Focusing on the needs of their customers, they have combined fine hand craftsmanship and modern technology in a new facility that produces banjos from $295 to $29,000. Throughout the years, many professional banjoists have joined the Deering Company as endorsing artists. Among them was the late John Hartford who was a close family friend, Bela Fleck, the Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Joe Satriani, David Holt, Jens Kruger, Eddie Adcock and Rod Stewart. These artists have introduced some of the over 20 models Deering produces to audiences throughout the world.
The Deering Banjo Factory is open for tours Monday through Friday. The public
is encouraged to drop in and see the 40+ employees at work creating these fine
instruments. Call their toll-free number, 800-845-7791 for details. Visit their
