- Goodtime Openback Banjo Review Review by Ernie Welch

Quality Price Value Just got my Goodtime Banjo a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! I mainly play my Golden Era and sometimes the Crossfire but I played the Goodtime for a Cancer benefit last week with the band and no one complained! It sounded great and is so light it's amazing that it has such volume and tone. Practicing is not easy to get motivated for, but having such a light banjo that sounds that good has really helped. I am carrying it to the Mt View Folk Festival in Arkansas to pick on the square and at the campground with all my friends. I expect the Goodtime will be a blast to play! The neck on this banjo feels so good. The thing is, professional players and beginners could benefit from having a banjo like this!!

- Great banjo for the money Review by gabeeg

Quality Price Value I did not look at a lot of banjos before buying the Goodtime, but of the handful I contemplated in the price range of $200.00-700.00 the Goodtime had the best build quality. I have had the Goodtime now for 3-4 months and love it, play it everyday. It really is a bargain at its price range and sounds great. I am a loyal Deering fan. It will be awhile before I upgrade (I see no need) but when I do it will be a Deering.

Value Quality Price I bought my Goodtime a little over a year ago and have never regretted it. It has been a great banjo to learn on. Though I have other banjos now, my goodtime is still great for practicing around the house. It is light, plays and sounds great and is very handy to just grab when you're on the go or have a few spare minutes to practice.

- Great litttle banjo for the money Review by brannon

Quality Price Value I am a beginning banjo player. Been playing guitar for 30 years now. I have always loved bluegrass music, but thats not why I wanted to play the banjo. When I heard John Butler play ithe banjo on some of his songs, thats when I realized how cool it was. The banjo can be implemented into other styles of music. That sparked my interest. I was looking for an inexpensive Banjo to start out on, but I also wanted quality, playability, and one made in the USA. I finally found it in the Deering Goodtime banjo. The Goodtime feels, sounds, and plays great. Its a solid instrument, through and through. Top notch quality.....

- Great Sound and Lightweight Review by BR549

Value Quality Price I recently bought my Deering Goodtime open back Banjo at Blue Ridge Music in Clayton Ga. They gave me a great deal and taught me a few things. I am very new to learning but have always had a love for Bluegrass music. It is very light at 4 lbs. Helps my bad back. Thank you for making a great banjo.

Price Value Quality I started playing the banjo at the age of 67 . Once I learned the clawhammer stroke I purchased an entry level Goodtime and never looked back. I liked the price , the sound, and especially the weight. Very easy to carry to festivals.

- Lefty Delight. Review by DadGotFat

Price Value Quality Total banjo newbie here...and lefty too.
I've been a semi-pro drummer for 30+ years who tinkered on acoustic guitar but the banjo has always interested me, especially the rhythmic aspects of the clawhammer style.
My daughter takes bass lessons at a local music store when I heard a student in another room playing a banjo, what a sound it was! It colored my ear like a rainbow. Turns out the kid was playing a Deering Goodtime. Long story short...I bought one. All the research pointed to the Goodtime as the perfect launching pad for a middle-aged lefty like me.
As far as build quality goes, in this price range I don't believe one can find a better instrument, plus American made to boot? That's a no brainer in my book.
See ya'll later, I'll be in the woodshed for quite awhile.

- Great banjo. Love it this banjo. Review by Myra

Price Value Quality This is my second Goodtime banjo. My frst banjo was the Goodtime Special with the resonator and the Gumby peghead. That banjo was attractive until I saw the newest Goodtime banjos with the fiddle-shaped peghead and the bowtie position markings. Very pretty banjos.
What inspired me to purchase another Goodtime openback fiddle-shaped banjo was YouTube banjo player Mean Mary. Of course, it was not just Mean Mary, but the sound of the banjo when I played it at Guitar Center. It was nice and easy to play. I take that banjo with me everywhere I go because it is so lightweight.(Posted on 7/6/12)
