    Classic Goodtime 5-String Banjo

    $679.00

The Classic Goodtime banjo is a three ply violin grade maple rim banjo that has a bright and clear tone. The Classic has a traditional look with the Deering Peg Head Shape, a Rich Brown stain, and spikes at the 7th, 9th, and 10th frets of the 5th String. The spikes enable you to expand your playing from the key of G and play in the keys of A, B and C by putting the fifth string under the spike and using a capo on the other four strings to adjust the tuning.

Here is a banjo you can have right there by your easy chair and play during commercials. It's great for hours of practice with an accurate neck that is as comfortable as can be. Most people who get a Goodtime banjo keep it because they love it even when they step up to their beautiful Deering banjo. The Goodtime banjo still maintains a special place in their lifestyle and this is why you don’t see a lot of Goodtime banjos on the used market.

The vintage look and light weight of this wonderful sounding, easy playing banjo will give you years of delight and enjoyment. Weighing in at only 4 pounds, this light weight banjo can go with you easily in travel, and even on a backpack. And, with the spikes already installed, you can easily play in several keys. Have fun where ever you go!

    Goodtime 2 Banjo

    $699.00

A resonator back provides more projection of sound in the Goodtime 2. We make it here in the USA, at the Deering shop with the same tooling we use to make the top of the line banjos. Greg Deering designed the Goodtime banjos because there were no low priced banjos of enough quality for people to actually learn on without difficulty or giving up. He remembers what it was like to want a good banjo and not be able to afford one, so his gift to others is the Goodtime banjo line. Designed for success, the Goodtime banjos are the lowest priced American made banjos.

They are so good many professionals have recorded with Goodtime banjos. The Goodtime 2 weighs 6 lbs, about the weight of a guitar.

The Goodtime 2 has a natural blonde maple satin finish to protect it. If you want a great low priced bluegrass banjo for travel and leisure that plays correctly and is durable, this is the best buy on the market!

    Goodtime 2 Parlor Banjo

    $719.00
A smaller sized 19 fret 5-string Goodtime for easy reach needed by small women or children or for back seat pickers who want to play in a small space. It is shorter than your normal sized 22 fret 5-string, measuring 4” shorter. The Parlor Goodtime allows for the standard fingering in playing a 5-string banjo, the frets are closer together so fingers don’t have to stretch as far to play the right chords. A child as young as five or six can easily get started on a Goodtime Parlor banjo. The sound of the Parlor Goodtime is not quite as loud and while it can be heard well, it is pleasant even during family conversations. Greg Deering made one and played Christmas Carols while the family opened gifts and the sound was wonderful background music for the holiday celebration. This joyful experience combined with the request from our good friend, Wayne Rice for a banjo to teach his young nephew, is what prompted the release of the new Goodtime Parlor banjo. Learn More
