Gavin Strappe | JigJam
Gavin Strappe is a leading contemporary Irish tenor banjo player and educator bringing the four-string tradition to global audiences. Known for his virtuosic style and dynamic performances, he has nearly two decades of professional experience as a performer, composer, and educator. A graduate with First Class Honours in Music Performance, he combines formal training with extensive international touring experience. He is also a recipient of the Arts Council of Ireland’s Agility Award.
He tours extensively across North America with Irish bluegrass band JigJam, appearing at major festivals and prestigious venues throughout the region, including the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee on multiple occasions. His playing has been praised by The Riverfront Times, which described him as “a phenomenal four-string tenor banjo player.”
