After years of collaboration, Deering is thrilled to present the long awaited Scott Avett Signature banjos.

Two banjos. Each one a labor of love. Each one produced to suit Scott's love of both bluegrass and clawhammer banjo styles.

These banjos are the result of one man's vision to create a pair of unique and deeply personal instruments to shgare with the world.

"I had been handed my voice"

Scott recalls picking up a banjo for the first time.

Designed in collaboration with Scott Avett, this signature Deering resonator banjo is a reflection of both musicality and visual artistry. Every detail—from the voice to the inlay—was shaped with intention, resulting in an instrument that feels as personal as it sounds.

At its core, this banjo features a grenadillo tone ring, delivering a warm, rich response with remarkable clarity and depth. The tonal character is expressive and balanced—equally at home driving rhythm or carrying melody.

Visually, the instrument is unmistakable. Custom inlays, designed by Scott himself, adorn both the peghead and fingerboard, giving the banjo a distinctive identity that sets it apart from anything else in the Deering line.

This is more than a signature model—it’s a creative partnership brought to life in wood, metal, and sound.

This signature Deering open back banjo offers a more intimate, organic voice—while carrying the same artistic identity as its resonator counterpart. Designed in collaboration with Scott Avett, every detail reflects a shared vision of sound, feel, and design.

Inspired by the classic Vega Vintage Star, this model features a 12" rim and a Dobson tone ring, producing a warm, rounded tone with a soft attack and natural sustain. The larger rim adds depth and presence, making it especially suited for expressive, nuanced playing.

As with the series, the visual character is unmistakable. Custom inlays, designed by Scott himself, appear on both the peghead and fingerboard, giving the instrument a personal and recognizable style.
