Silver Clipper canon banjo
"I'm using the word canon, because the gentleman who sold it to me at Acoustic Vibes in Tempe, AZ remarked as I was trying out all of the banjos, "That thing is a canon". And to the picker who posted that it is a tinnitus creator (Just kidding), well sir, I am not kidding. I agree with you 100%. I've played this thing late at night, before going to bed, and when I lay down to sleep, my ears actually ring for awhile. It is an amazing instrument. I have been playing guitar for over 50 years and I've played and taught for a living for awhile too (in retirement, I'm back at it again), so I've been around and through a lot of instruments of high quality. This is what attracted me to the Silver Clipper. The feel and quality of the neck reminded me of my Gibson Byrdland guitar. I tried out a lot of excellently curated banjos at Acoustic Vibes. What a pleasure to be in a music store the caliper of a Bentley or Rolls Royce car dealership with instruments so pampered. It boiled down to the Maple Blossom and the Clipper and I just had to have the Tony Trischka Silver Clipper, but hey folks, all the Deering Jo's are excellent. I love the fit and finish, but especially, the quilted maple resonator. The art nouveau ilays, radius fretboard, 06 tone ring and more all make this an exceptional instrument that I'm proud to own. I'm not a collector. I am a music teacher of fretted instruments and I do some gigging. I play this banjo every day and I gig with it. So Deering, this banjo has been taken on gigs and watched like a hawk during breaks. I have to pamper it, but it's going to be put through its paces and not sit on a stand. Thank you Tony and Deering for designing and creating a marvelous work of art and a tool for the gigging musician. I want to give a shout out to Jamie, the wonderful face of Deering Banjo, the lady who greets you when you walk in the door at Deering Banjo Company. I'll be back for an open back someday."
