THIS AUCTION HAS ENDED. WINNING BID WAS $5,500
The Rhiannon Giddens Giving Tuesday Charity Banjo is entirely one-of-a-kind, with the maple wood stained Black and the metal parts finished in Black Powder Finish. With the drum head of the banjo a smooth matte black that is personally signed by Rhiannon, and the peghead with “BLM” burned in among scroll artwork, this is Rhiannon’s Giving Tuesday Charity Banjo.
The charity Rhiannon chose for this auction to benefit is Imani Works – Haus of Lacks. Imani Works is a human rights advocacy group and a consultant with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. As part of their commitment to the thirty human rights articles chartered December 10, 1948, they promote the human right to their own culture, which includes programming supporting and promotion of Affrolachian (Black Appalachian) culture with an annual music and dance festival in Central Virginia, The Affrolachian On-Time Music Gathering. One of the activities Imani Works also supports is a new effort of artists, Haus of Lacks, who have the mission to educate, activate, connect and bridge the gap between protesters, lawmakers, and communities through the performing and visual arts. This is the wonderful cause Rhiannon requested the proceeds for this special banjo auction go towards.

Introducing the new Goodtime Deco Series, a stunning tribute to the vibrant American Art Deco design movement of the 1920s when the banjo reigned as America's most beloved instrument.
Learning how to play the banjo is no different. There are different types of banjos and plenty of new terminology for parts of banjos and playing styles. Aspiring players also wonder what makes one banjo better than another.
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. We are excited to be collaborating with Ed Helms, Molly Tuttle & Ketch Secor, and Kristin Scott Benson. Each banjo has been designed in collaboration with the artist, and in some cases the charity itself, and personally signed by the respective artists. They will be auctioned below from Nov 28th through Dec 10th with the proceeds benefiting the charities of the artist's choice.
