Goodtime Two™ Banjo

$739.00

Greg Deering designed the Goodtime banjos because there were no low priced banjos of enough quality for people to actually learn on without difficulty or giving up. He remembers what it was like to want a good banjo and not be able to afford one, so his gift to others is the Goodtime banjo line. Designed for success, the Goodtime banjos are the lowest priced American made banjos. They are so good many professionals have recorded with Goodtime banjos.

The Goodtime Two weighs 6 lbs - about the weight of a guitar. The Goodtime Two has a natural blonde maple with a satin finish to protect it. The rich, golden tone and the reverberation off the resonator sound great. You can definitely tell a volume difference between open back and a Goodtime Two. The sound waves aren't getting trapped between you and the banjo, which makes a pretty big difference. If you want a great low priced bluegrass banjo for travel and leisure that plays correctly and is durable, this is the best buy on the market!

Goodtime Americana™

$629.00

FREE SHIPPING within the U.S.

Continuing the long standing Goodtime philosophy of offering the best value American made banjos available, the Americana is the lowest priced 12” model on the market today and retains the distinctive natural blonde Goodtime aesthetics. In keeping with the rest of the Goodtime line, this banjo also features guitar style tuners, a rock maple neck, nickel plated hardware, and hardwood inlays.

Played with an old time style technique, the Americana is reminiscent of banjos from a period when larger rims were more prevalent which makes the 12” a great setup for playing old time music. A traditional 11” banjo with a frosted top head has a far brighter sound and will “cut” more. Since the combination of the Grand 12” rim and the Renaissance head makes for a wonderfully laid back sound in comparison, the Americana lends itself perfectly for musicians looking to use the banjo to back up a vocalist or another instrument, instead of playing the a lead instrument role.

Take a walk on the wide side with the new Goodtime Americana™ banjo.

Deering White Lotus 5-String Banjo

$2,699.00

For years players have been asking for a lighter weight banjo with a full rich tone at an affordable price point. This desire has now become reality in the new White Lotus 5-string resonator banjo. Weighing in at only 8 pounds and featuring the newly patented Deering white oak rim design, this American white oak banjo has the bright tone, crisp and clear note distinction, power, and sustain formerly only seen in banjos with metallic tone rings.

Having heard a vintage guitar of white oak years ago, Greg Deering decided to experiment with a white oak rim and neck for a banjo to see how the tone of this unique tone wood translated to a banjo.

Surprisingly the result is a banjo with an almost metallic resonance without a tone ring. Why? American white oak is noted for a heavy, straight-grained texture; hard, tough, very stiff and strong. It is these key qualities of white oak wood that imbue this banjo with strong fundamental notes and a series of overtones that imitate a bell metal tone ring without the additional weight characteristic of this classic banjo component. Now the banjo player can have the much desired lighter weight banjo with “tone ring” power.

Alongside the patented white oak rim, other features include a white oak neck and resonator accented with white binding, a Midnight Maple fingerboard and peghead overlay, new lotus flower inspired inlays, the Eagle Series style flange, Deering’s comfortable neck shape with the easily recognizable peghead profile and and a sparkling glossy finish.

Deering Sierra™ 5-string Banjo

$2,999.00

“The Deering Sierra banjo is truly the flagship of our entire line! How is it that this is so? Well I’ll tell you. The pot assembly of the Sierra, the violin grade maple 3 ply rim, the -06- tone ring, the one piece zinc flange, the notched tension hoop, the Deering tail piece and armrest are exactly the same as our whole line all the way up to the Gabriella, with just a few exceptions. The only exceptions are; the Golden Era has a different zinc flange, the Hartford has a Grenadillo wood tone ring, the Terry Baucom has an -06- tone ring that is just a few ounces lighter than the standard -06- tone ring, and the Tenbrooks banjos have the Swiss Jens Kruger tone ring.

When I first introduced the Sierra I kept the cost down by keeping the cosmetics simple. I put the money into the pot assembly. I wanted to build a top professional banjo at a price that I could have afforded when I was a kid going to the music store on my way home from school everyday.

With the implementation of new technology we have been able to make the Sierra exquisitely beautiful without raising the price. I have been greatly inspired by the art work of the old masters of the Boston banjo era from the turn of the last century. With this inspiration in my blood I have brought art to the Sierra that is usually reserved for banjos costing much, much more.

The Sierra is truly a professional masterpiece of both sound and art at a price that is within your reach."

Sincerely,
Greg Deering

    Deering Jens Kruger Model

    $15,799.00

This began as the Top model of the Tenbrooks line before being included in the Artist Series.  It is made with violin grade maple because of the musical qualities of this wood and it features a radiused ebony fretboard. Jens prefers stainless steel frets because of the durability of the stainless steel. The frets wear longer before needing to be replaced. Before switching to stainless steel frets, Jens, who plays an average of 8 hours per day, was having his banjos re-fretted every 6 months. With stainless steel frets he has played for almost 2 years before having the banjo re-fretted; getting three times the playing life out of the frets!

The radiused fingerboard fits the curve of the fingers over the playing surface making it just that much more effortless to travel the fingerboard.

The Jens Kruger model has significant resonance and clarity, elevating it to the caliber of orchestral instruments. The Jens Kruger banjo is designed to unlock the creativity for the dedicated musician.

Vega® White Oak Banjo 11" Banjo

    $2,099.00

“The quality of the tone is what matters. If it doesn't move you when you play...if it doesn't move something in you then it doesn't matter what its made out of. In the white oak, I found yet another voice that I hadn't heard in any of the banjos that I own.” - Rick Barron, Deering Artist

The Vega White Oak banjos are ideal for clawhammer and folk music and players will marvel at the bright tone and distinct note clarity from a banjo that weighs less than 6 pounds!

The two models offer the choice of a traditional sound in a 22-fret Vega open back with an 11” rim and frosted top head or the grand bass response and grand tone of a 12” rim with a renaissance head.

The Vega openback models are made entirely of white oak and also feature a midnight maple fingerboard and peghead overlay, a sleek satin finish and are adorned with a gryphon inlay at the peghead - Greg Deering’s own tribute to the incredible inlay work of the late Icilio Consalvi.

Born in 1865, Consalvi worked mostly in the Boston area and is responsible for some of the banjo world's most beautiful and intricate inlay work. In particular, Consalvi’s work can be found on many early Fairbanks, Cole and Vega banjos built in Boston at the time. As the son of an Italian family of jewelers, Consalvi is perhaps best known for a one of a kind exquisite banjo that currently resides in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Aside from the lavish engraving and stunning detail, the banjo is said to contain over 39,987 individual pieces, each inlaid by hand over three years.

Each Vega White Oak is complete with a hard shell case and a lifetime warranty.

This is a show piece banjo that is as stunning as the beautiful sound it creates. You can enjoy the tone of the Clawgrass banjos played by Steve Martin, Kevin Nealon and Mark Johnson in their many performances.

    Deering Deluxe™ 5-String Banjo

    $3,659.00

Now featuring a walnut neck, the Deering Deluxe truly stands out as a banjo with it's own tone.  The walnut neck gives the banjo a perfect balance of brightness and warmth.  When paired with our -06- bell bronze tone ring, the Deluxe comes alive and gives you a banjo that will stand out from the pack.

Built with Deering's genuine bell bronze tone ring, three ply violin grade maple rim and one piece, cast, zinc resonator flange, this Deluxe is as easy to play as it is beautiful.

The mother of pearl inlay in the peghead, is the very first Deering logo designed by Greg Deering for his first banjo in 1969. The multicolor binding and high gloss finish enhance the gold and perloid inlays on the exotic, natural ebony fingerboard. "The inspiration for the inlay artwork comes from the early Boston banjo masters. And if you look at the peghead of the Deluxe, it has some of the same elements as the Sierra, but it is much more expanded and it comes alive with the turn of the century Boston masters element - and that was just the design that flowed out onto the page. It's a lot of fun to have that kind of artwork on a banjo that people can afford. The first professional banjo we made was the Deluxe so it always has a very dear spot to us because it was the first professional banjo we made way back in '79." Greg Deering

One of Deering's oldest and most popular models, this banjo brings the power, easy playability and maintenance together in a beautiful, historically important banjo that is just as much at home on the front porch as it is on the road. It truly is a Deluxe banjo.
