A Great Purchase

"Well built - love the construction and simplicity. Sounds great! Very easy to play. Didn’t know exactly what to expect in a tenor, but being a mandolin player made it an easy decision and a very simple crossover. Fun to be able to pick up an instrument and be able to effectively “play” immediately. Very happy with the decision."

Q&A

Are the Irish Tenor Banjo strings (12-18w-28w-38w) suitable for GDAE tuning on both 17- and 19-fret banjos? I have a 19.
Yes! The Irish Tenor set is suitable for both the 17 and the 19 fret tenor banjo.
On line I notice two different sets of Deering Irish Tenor Banjo strings, each saying for GDAE tuning. One set is marked 12 16 24W 36W and the other is marked 12 18W 28W 38W (as shown on this site). Which is now recommended and what are the differences in sound that could be expected from each set. These will be used on by Goodtime 17 fret tenor banjo. Thanks.
There are two different TENOR strings but not two different IRISH tenor strings. The standard tenor strings are for tuning of ADGC while the IRISH tenor set is for EADG.
Hi, My friend who is a Luthier is of the opinion that my 19 and 17 fret Deering TB's, would sound nicer if the strings were 10 16 24 30. I would like your advice on this as I don't want to go against your recommendations. Many thanks Ron Carroll Auckland New Zealand
Those are the gauges on our standard tenor strings. :-)
