THIS AUCTION HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

Winning Bid: $5,210

The Massachusetts Charity Banjo is entirely one-of-a-kind, made with a deep black neck bearing the State's name and shape boldly on the peghead. With pearloid inlays of blue set into the Midnight Maple fingerboard, in perfect harmony with the deep blue stained resonator, this banjo proudly represents the tough, hardworking and tight-knit culture of Massachusetts .

The drum head of the banjo is personally signed by Mumford & Sons with a personal message from the band.

Based on the Deering Artisan Goodtime Two this banjo has a resonator back for projection, and a violin grade maple rim that gives it a bright and clear tone. Designed and built by Deering Banjos at their factory in Spring Valley, California specifically for this auction.

The stunning Artisan Goodtime banjos embody Greg Deering’s lifelong vision for the Deering Banjo Company – to make the best sounding, playing, looking, and best value U.S.A. made banjo that he possibly could. It is a never-ending quest that Deering pursues every single day.

The Charity this auction will benefit is Boston Cares. Founded in 1991 by seven young adults who were determined to find a way to make community service a part of their busy lives. They worked to find non-profits that could utilize volunteers on a flexible basis, with the goal of creating a calendar of volunteer opportunities to send out to their friends. Today Boston Cares is the largest volunteer agency in New England and an award-winning leader in the volunteer engagement sector. Since 1991, their volunteers have generated over 1 million hours of service!
