THIS AUCTION HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

Winning Bid: $5,770

The New York Charity Banjo is entirely one-of-a-kind, made with a deep black neck bearing the State's name and shape in all its glory on the peghead. With pearloid inlays of red set into the Midnight Maple fingerboard, in perfect contrast with the perfect red stained resonator, this banjo is as full of life as the city that never sleeps !

The drum head of the banjo is personally signed by Mumford & Sons with a personal message from the band.

Based on the Deering Artisan Goodtime Two this banjo has a resonator back for projection, and a violin grade maple rim that gives it a bright and clear tone. Designed and built by Deering Banjos at their factory in Spring Valley, California specifically for this auction.

The stunning Artisan Goodtime banjos embody Greg Deering’s lifelong vision for the Deering Banjo Company – to make the best sounding, playing, looking, and best value U.S.A. made banjo that he possibly could. It is a never-ending quest that Deering pursues every single day.

The Charity this auction will benefit is Teaching Matters. Children in the United States do not have equitable access to great teaching. The systems are broken. Research demonstrates that skilled educators are the most important school-related factor in a child’s learning and future success, and three years of ineffective teaching can be insurmountable. Right now, public schools are struggling to attract, develop and retain great teachers.

Teaching Matters is committed to increasing teacher effectiveness so that every child can have access to an excellent education no matter the zip code. They work directly in schools to transform the professional culture of teaching. Since their founding, 25 years ago, they have worked with over 1,000 schools, 30,000 teacher and reached over 500,000 students.
