Nicholas “Sol Bear” Coulton hails from Taranaki, New Zealand, and is one third of NZ folk trio Turkey The Bird. Since the release of their charting 2019 debut album, Sol Bear has proudly been touring using his Goodtime banjo.
In the words of Sol:
“I originally was given an old 1920s banjo mandolin that someone converted to five string, and I have a self-taught style of playing. Knowing how deep Deering has its roots in traditional banjo playing I was nervous about how my style would transition, but after the first show playing my new Goodtime plugged in, I knew this was the brand of banjo I wanted to team up with.”
